Post Please help with "Charm" spell

A sorcerer has a 1-st level "charm person" spell but i cant figure how to use it in right way. After beeing charmed a monster stands still and I can't move away a long distance from him and neither can i move him with my mouse. He starts to move only if he sees an enemy approaching, otherwise i am tied to him. Anybody knows how to control him?
Besides when i have a charmed minion the game runs in combat mode thus not allowing me to save game. I dont know how to ged rid of him. The first level sorcerer has the duration of the spell 1 hour. Does this mean that i have to wait till the spell wanishes by itself? And what to do on higher levels - this can be a long wait?

that's what makes charm rather useless. the only way to get rid of charmed creatures is to kill'em. u can't bring'em anywhere.
