NOTES, TOMES & ELVEN LANTERN

I have saved up 25 NOTES, ancient, unfinished, tattered, stained etc and 3 TOMES, old leather bound--- question are they any good for anything down the road or should I just get rid of 28 lbs of dead weight, asap??
I also have 1 only ELVEN LANTERN which is described as ELTHRAIN'S LANTHORN and that casts Restoration, and is valued in the thousands, but nobody in my crew can equip it!! I have a fighter, a ranger-sorcerer, a cleric, a sorcerer, a rogue and a fighter- cleric. With my luck, this lantern is for a monk or a paladin, right????

I think the lanter might be for monks, or it maybe a non-equibable item?
the notes are just for hints, and the city records tomes have no purpose, not evan worth much for sale
maybe they had a purpose and it was removed prior to release or somthing

Thanks for the help on the tombs & notes. Kind of reinforces my own feelings, but the lantern, "nonequitable", sorry but can you explain a bit more??
