help, i saved my game in the prisons and now every time i load my game i have an archlich and 3 master shadows on me straight away. what is the best way of dealing with it as the first thing the archlich does is uses the cone of cold on me and nearly kills my men near enough straight away.i do have faeril with me and emmeric ?
If you have a high enough level cleric I found turning usually worked on the shadows. Other than that I would say the key is split up and dont let him hit you all with the cone of cold at once. I also found cone of cold to work fairly well on the shadows...usually from a wand.

Rush the archlich with your heavy hitters, your going to want to do that with any spellcasters as when they try to cast a spell your combat reflexes kicks in. As for the master shadows, try to turn them, but also hit them with a lot of spells. I usually have different sets of weapons, and a set for undead, this usually works better against incorpreal opponents.
