Graphic glitches

Hi everyone,

In my game of POR, characters seem to often be transparent as does any item that can be used or smashed. Just after loading up, some of the items on the screen are partly visible but after moving the characters things become transparent until bringing up the character sheet and closing it again. This seems to reset the graphics for a while. Only the permanent walls of the dungeon seem to be unaffected.

Another really weird problem I seem to have is that enemies can run in one direction, but after their go they continue in that direction but appear to be sliding rather than running . This can take them out of the area where I can attack them but they can still cast spells on me (which is really annoying ).

I am using Windows XP Professional, Nvidia Geforce FX5700, Sempron 2800+ (2Ghz) Processor.

Has anyone else had these kind of problems and/or knows any solutions.

P.S. I am just glad that I do not have some of the other problems that others have mentioned. Fortunately these problems I have mentioned are relatively new.

Thanks in advance.

This is just a thought, but have you tried to run it with windows 98 compatibilty mode?

Thanks for your reply Luis.
I just tried it on all of the compatibility settings and it made no difference. I also tried changing my graphic card settings to their maximums and to application-controlled but it seemed to make virtually no difference.

Any other ideas?

Ravager, honestly, I guess its because your drivers are way too new to play the game... using older drivers with a win 98 instalation may prevent it. Also, new drivers may also help. You know how graph glitches are hard to predict.

It looks like I am going to have to chalk this up to the list of games that mysteriously stop working.

Anyway, thanks for all your help Luis .

This is definately the graphics card. I installed an Nvidia Geforce card and had exactly the same problem; the game was just unplayable. My card is currently having problems and isn't installed now, so the game runs with no problems. One of the previous posts said your drivers are too new, which might be the case, but if you're only playing POR at the moment i'd suggest taking the card out. there's probably a better way around the problem though.

Hmm.... I might properly experiment with NVidia drivers at some point and see if any are better. It's good to know that I'm not the only one with those kind of graphics problems in POR though.

The game worked fine with my previous card, GeForce MX440. What Nvidia card do you have?
