Hi,

Just dug out RoMD from my old games collections and realized i only played it for a short while before playing something else (maybe BG or NWN, dont remember).

I would like to give it a second chance

I know that its possible to solo this game, but i was wondering which party size is best suited if you want to reach the 16+16 cap with your party, but without maxing out too early? Im guessing 2 or 3?

Secondly, any suggestions of the composition of such a party?

I would assume one Cleric/Paladin (against the undead) and one Sorc/Rogue (ranged attacker when spells runs out, the rogue levels supported by chest/trap XP). If a third character is called for im unsure what is appropriate. Maybe a Pal/Monk, though im a bit unfamiliar with the combo.

the best number of people is 3 and the best combo is 1 barbarian, 1 mage, and 1 cleric

I am doing well with a party originally of three. I started a monk which I dual classed as a ranger, a fighter which I dual classed as a cleric, and a rogue, who I dual classed as a sorcerer. after picking up the sorcerer who was stuck in the rock, I dual classed him as a fighter.

I would say if you want to stay with 3 that I would agree with the Cleric for undead and healing and the Sorcerer for damage to alot of bad guys with one attack (e.g. Fireball) but I would make the third some sort of Fighter or Paladin class. Considering the fact that alot of the fights in this game occur after opening a door to a room, I used my heavily armored fighter to block doorways and keep all the baddies penned in while I lobbed arrows, bullets, and magic into the room.

From what I remember hearing at the official PoR:RoMD forum (which, sadly, was closed down over a year ago) running two characters will get you almost all the way to the multilevel cap by the end of the game, especially if one of them employs rogue skills to gather extra XP.

I've completed the game solo, and found that I'd maxed out somewhere near the end of the Elven catacombs. So this time around, I'm soloing only through the Dwarven Dungeons, then adding Faeril as soon as I can.
