Question Is there a way to NOT use the world map to travel (to an adjacent node)?

After I reach the Lower Ward, the game forces me to use the world map to travel -- even when I just want to travel to an adjacent node/area/location and do not want to use the map, (because I lose four hours of game time when I use the world map to travel to an adjacent location.) Is there a way for me to travel to the adjacent node without having to use the world map (and lose four hours of game time)?

i.e., Before I reach the Lower Ward, I am not forced to use the world map, and it takes no game time to travel to the adjacent node. Now the game forces me to use the world map, it takes few hours (in game time) just to move to the adjacent node -- which is ridiculous. It becomes very annoying because day becomes night too quickly, and it is hard to see at night. In most areas, I can't just rest anywhere.

This won't help your situation any...but have to say did not find that the time change was a problem. OK it gets dark and if you have probs with the nighttime then why not go somewhere on the map that you can rest. Lower Ward there's that guy outside the market who rents out beds and if you are a member of the Sensorium, Upper Ward then ditto. Lots of the little old ladies Mebeth {sp?} etc, will let you rest over too [trusting bunch given your fabulous good looks]. I used to go to my tomb sometimes just to get away from it all! Anyway, hope someone can give you a definitive answer, but I can't figure out how something I thought of as being a bonus i.e. moving around using the world map, can be circumnavigated. But you never know.

After you solve the puzzle of the Modron Cube (which you can purchase in the Clerks Ward), you can use it as a teleportation device to move from one area to the next. I don't know if the designers intended to have it be used for that purpose, but it works.

You can also "transport yourself" to other locations by letting the Nameless One die and be resurrected. For example, if you want to return to the Mortuary but can't find a way back in, all you have to do is kill the Nameless One outside the Morturary and your party will end up inside. It's cheesy, but it works.

I agree with Avane, though. The passage of time does not have any effect on the game. (Why would a few hours make any difference to an immortal man?) Also, you can enable running and it won't take long to reach the exits for each area. Just point and click and sit back and relax. But if you can find a shortcut, then go for it.
