Stuck - I think it is a bug.

Some minor spoilers below:
I just killed Vlask and picked up the bead. I want to leave the room and I click on it and select use item and nothing happens. I then walked all around the room using the item and nothing is happening. I have installed the 3-pack of expansions and the official patch if that helps. Also I am running this on Vista. Does anyone have any idea if I am doing something wrong? Also Vlask's spells caused some weird visual effects so I am wondering if there is maybe a problem.

That's odd. Using the bead should open a dialogue that allows you to crush it and thus open the portal. Try saving, then reloading, then using the bead (or better yet, exit game and restart.)

Spell graphics problems indicate you're probably using an NVidia card. See this thread: IE games and NVidia Series 8 video cards - Spellhold Studios

Thank you for the response. I tried it again after rebooting the game and loading a save and still no luck. I click use and it just goes to the screen but nothing happens. I hope that my game is not corrupted. Also I am on Vista 64 bit with an ATI graphics card.
Is there some sort of cheat that I can do to get out?

I need you to be a little more specific please. It goes to -what- screen? A dialogue box? Do you see the dialogue, and do you get the option to break the bead? I need specifics so I can figure out at what exact point it's breaking down for you.

If you're not getting a dialogue box at all, that's -very- strange. Try talking to one of your NPC's briefly, then try using the bead again.

As for a cheat, well, if you brought the Tome of Cheats from you (from either my UB or Tweak Pack mods) then you can teleport out. If not, you could always load a save game from before you went in there. If nothing else, your auto-save should be a save right before you enter the building.

Either way, I'd still like to know the specifics of your problem, so I can fix it if it's an actual bug.

Thank you for your help. I did not see your second response. I put the item in Morte's backpack and I was then able to use it. I am not sure why that fixed it. I am still playing through and just returned to the Outlands after going to the Pillar. I noticed under Curst some bugged behavior and it was difficult for me to pick up the loot that enemies dropped. Now I am not able to get into the portal on the "arse end" of the skeleton. I walk over there and I can here the portal opening noise, but nothing happens. I am using Vista 64 bit, so I am thinking that it is maybe not running well?
