Nordom dialogue options bugged? *spoilers*

I've been having problems with Nordom. That is, I don't get any of the dialogue trees that go to upgrade him.

Here's what I've done.

I first found Nordom, and went through all the options. I never found the upgrade dialogue, though. So looking at a walkthrough, I saw that you have to make sure that you don't mention that you're director. I didn't remeber doing that, but maybe, so I reloaded. Well, I never got this option to say anything about the director, just asking Nordom what happened to the old one. I ask him about mechanus, his pas in Modron, and how he's doing, but nothing. So I decide to give up and move on to the Wizard.

I kill the Wizard, yet once again, I get NO new options. I've gone through them again and again.

And yes, my int is 21 and wis is 22, more than enough.

Anyone know what's going on?

Well, its a bit tricky I think. I never got him to aknowledge me as the master either.

But, I got this from rpgclassics.com that seems to indicate you have to say something specific to him.

"talk to him and after a while he'll ask to join your party; accept, that's what we're here for.
Talk to him again and ask about how he got to Rubikon, then about Mechanus, the source and all that. Then ask him how he is doing, with a high enough INT you can now ask him if his separation from the source changed his prespective. This causes Nordom to upgrade: +1 INT, +1 CON and 36000 exp."

And this:

"After disposing of the Wizard talk to Nordom again, start by asking him about how he came to Rubikon, ask about the field test and the previous director as well. He now knows that the former director was killed by the Wizard, tell him you are the new director and he gets +1 INT, +1 DEX and 36000 exp. Ask Nordom about your functions as director, there's a whole bunch of stuff you can do now, just be sure to ask him about the tasks his previous director had him doing, you can get some pretty nifty items from some of those. "

Hope it helps.

I have actually only been able to upgrade Nordom once out of all the times I've played through Planescape. I no longer remember if it was a bug I had to work around (unlikely) or I just missed something I had to do. Regardless, this question pops up ever once in a while so feel free to look at the older threads and report back if you are able to upgrade him

Yeah, I looked at those threads before posting this, but none were terribly helpful. The only solution looked like going back and doing it again, and luckily I had a save. Once I did this, I was able to do the upgrades, but only the post-wizard ones. I never got the option for those upgrades that are supposed to be available when you first meet Nordom, for some reason.

Edit: Although I realize that this title would probably pop up for anyone else looking for the solution to this problem, so if anyone has some advice, it'd probably be good.

All I can offer is to keep a back-up save ready right before your encounter with the wizard. Once you go through every dialogue option, kill him, and see what the results. I only had to kill him once again for this to work, but I'm not sure about others.

Also, if/when the options do become available, there's another bug that can come up. When you're giving him the motivational speech (17+ CHA required), at one point two identical replies become available. Pick the bottom one, as the top one gives you less of a stat boost.

Hope that helps.

I had the same problem. Did everything as it should be done, but alas nothing happened. Then my bloody pc crashed and I had to reinstall win, the good thing I made backups of my saves every night. Reinstalled win, installed Torment again, copied my saves and then a miracle - I spoke to Nordom and everything was just fine. So, reinstall the game, if you haven't tried it yet of course. I hope it'll help.

Regards!

Hi there... I know this is very old but considering I'm working on my first Planescape game and ended up experiencing this very problem (of course coming to GB for guidance) I thought I'd post a potential "fix" for anyone else who might have the same trouble.

For me, when I first got Nordom I wanted the initial stat bump you're supposed to get through the "source" line of questioning (need an int of 16, I had 21) but couldn't find it. I'd follow the Rubikon conversation with the "How are you?" question but nothing special happened... until I realized that Morte and Grace would interrupt whenever I tried to talk about it. The chatter seemed normal enough so I didn't think anything of it, but eventually I moved Morte and Grace in the corner of the room and tried the Rubikon conversation again and - success! I could ask Nordom directly about "the source", and then when I followed up with the "How are you?" tree I was able to use the int conversation option and get the stat boost.

So, if your companions are interjecting early on try the conversation again without them butting in! : ) Good luck.
