Help with way *spoiler*

Alright, so I went all the way through to the pillar of skulls in baator, then realized there wasn't an easy way out.

After looking through theses forums, I found that you can convince Fjhull to tell you, as opposed to giving up something else to the pillar to find out. Luckily for me (or so I thought), I had retained a save game in his house.

After going through all the obvious dialogue trees, and then the less obvious ones... I had no luck. So I tried upping my int and chr through charms. Still no dice with 18 chr and 16 or so int.

I'm a rather low level for this point in the game, apparently (9 or so). Could this have an impact? From other posts is seems as if this is also the reason I can't pull Morte back out of the skull pillar if I give him up, as well.

All of this together kinda screws me over. I need to ask an additional question of the skull pillar to get out, and I don't get a freebie by way of Morte.

Any comments/suggestions?

Thanks

I changed the title of this thread since the question contains some story spoilers.

Please mark your posts as "spoilers" if they contain information that reveals the story of the game or similar elements that may ruin the surprise element for gamers who haven't finished the game yet.

Thank you.

You need 18 int or 16 wis to convince Fhjull.

If you can't raise it that much, loosing 15 HP to the pillar isn't as dramatic as it seems, you can gain as many levels and HP as you want by fighting respawning monsters later.
