Freeze-up when trying to level up Annah

Annah is currently level 4 fighter, level 4 thief, and has just reached a level-up point (as a thief). When I click Level Up, the next screen loads, but the "Accept" button is greyed out. At this point, the whole system freezes.

I have the 2CD version, which apparently is already patched. The notes for the unofficial fix-pack say that a new game should be started after installing it. I don't really want to start over from scratch, if there's any other way around this. Can anyone help with this?

Have you tried levelling up under different conditions - in a different area, for example? It might be more than one factor that influences the freeze.

If all fails, you might want to use a game editor such as near infinity to adjust Annah's stats to what they would be after she levelled up. Not an elegant solution, but better than a freezing game.

I'm fairly certain there are thief points to distribute -- 30 or so for stealth, pickpocket, etc.
Once you do distribute them, the accept button is enabled.

Thanks both of you for replying so quickly - much appreciated. Wayfarer; that *was* the problem. I don't know how I overlooked it , guess I can blame the aging brain cells. Now to go and find those rotten wererats that stole Morte

I thought the game actually froze as in 'I'm not responding and you need to restart' freeze. I'm glad it was something as simple as redistributing thieving points.
