| | | The first song you danced slow to uh sorry if the title doesn't make sense, what i meant was do you remember the first time you danced slowly, cheek to cheek and holding each other? I don't know if there's a word for this in English
Anyway, my first time dancing like that with a girl was in the 5th grade, at a field trip to a villa in the mountains. It was with a cute blond blue eyed classmate and to ZZ Top's Blue Jeans Blues I still love the song and i'm listening to it right now
I should probably mention that i had a quick lesson by a male classmate a few hours before the dance It really helped by the way Hes in Canada now.. I bet he's a hit with the ladies there |

| | | Not sure if it really was the very first time, but at least the earliest one I can remember was the song "Talullah" by Sonata Arctica...

| | | It used to be called 'smooching' back in the 60's/70's, in the UK anyway. I can recall the first time, but not for the life of me what tune/song, doubt I'd want to. It was at an English country village church, 'Young peoples Night', and being as how the Vicar who ran it wouldn't allow 'The Devil's Music' it must have been a pretty bland, dire number. |

| | I always thought "smooch" to be slang for kiss I suppose i've seen too many Top Cat cartoons so 60 and 70s New York expressions have been permanently burned in my mind
Anyway i didn't know that the UK and other western countries had problems with the new music at the time? I know all about Bulgaria and the other ex-soviet countries (my dad used to hide rock&roll records in a secret compartment under his bead.. ), but i thought that was just the product of the Iron Curtain propaganda.. |

| | | A bit offtopic, but Rock & Roll was thought as "anarchist" music back when it was invented... Same could have been said about metal when the first band started to really play it...
So, it wasn't only something ex-soviet countries were experiencing...

| | | "The freethinking of one age is the common sense of the next". Matthew Arnold 19th century poet and cultural critic. Prob not thinking about 'rock 'n roll'...First slow dance, the music...think it was the Walker Brothers, can't remember the name but - something like "...the moon it don't rise in the sky, the sun it don't shine anymore, when I'm without love..." and Galraen it was a church social, and I remember this much, the darned thing skipped and stuttered throughout, spoiling the effect...
Okay back to work. |

| | Ahem, was just checking on that song with my sister and she says 'physically impossible for it to be my song'. Our parents had a box of old records from the 60's and 70's and that was one of them...Hmmm, I see her point. |

| | | What would you have liked to have been your first smoochy dance music???? Sator, this may or may not be of interest to you. But what do you think...Adolescence is a seriously disappointing time in our little lives: agreed? So how about, if you could climb into a time capsule and dance with your most fanciable partner: what would the sound be?
For me the booming bass line of Cowgirl In The Sand Neil Young, coming up through the wooden dance floor would have been just fine...good vibrations. Want to go down that route? It's your post. But seeing as we are all such amnesiacs, wishful thinking might just be the next best thing. Your call. |

| | Back in my day...(gosh I have been waiting forever to find a place to use that phrase!)
Anyway, back in my day we used to call it "slow dancing". Very, very original term. My first "slow" dance was Don't stop believin' by Journey. Quote:
Just a small town girl
Living in a lonely world
She took the midnight train going anywhere
Just a city boy
Born and raised in South Detroit
He took the midnight train going anywhere
| The boy I danced with was named Dennis, and he was a little sweaty and smelled like bubblegum.

So how about, if you could climb into a time capsule and dance with your most fanciable partner who did not smell of bubblegum and was a little sweaty. |

| | adolescence, yes the memory of the dance:
While I do not remember the song, I do remember being very nervous, I had got my aunt to teach me some dance steps, my uncle to give me grooming hints and his tips on how to treat your date...
and the most vivid memory of being nervous...am I going to step on her feet, am I dancing ok, hope I don't sweat, am I holding her too tight, too loose..
wonder what she's thinking...
So glad I'm over all that!

I didn't mind the bubblegum part and he wasn't too terribly sweaty. I don't think I would want to go back...I kind of like being an adult better than being a kid anyway. Even if I am not a very "grownup" adult. I think I am with BlueSky on this one, I am glad I'm over all that.
