| | | The name of the song is “Mad World” with certainty of 78 per cent. Near the end of the ad “mad world” was repeated. It is a very common practise with songs, you know.
*Sigh*
The song you are looking for is Mad World by Gary Jules.

| | Erm. Isn't this one of the Gears of Wars trailers? Why did you call it an advertisement? It was a trailer that demonstrated the human side of the conflict, if I recall correctly. The song in that trailer didn't appeal to me, to be honest.

| | | Heh, I saw the commercial at the movies yesterday and was wondering the same thing. What a godawful combination of music and action. |

Slow pace melodic music with action sequences causes a form of contrast which makes many - if interested in such action - pay more attention. |

| | The person who sat next to me said the same thing
Perhaps I just can't appreciate it since I keep seeing a facet of Unreal Tournament in every sequence (except maybe in the beginning where the guy picks up the doll -when I didn't realize it was a Gears of War trailer). Epic Games sure has a very specific interpretation of body armor by the way. |

<snip> | It is much like when in horror movies they decide to shift around music and play eerie music when nothing is happening and soft/quiet music when the dead rise (or what ).... it causes confusion and forces one to pay more attention. Luckily - not many actually uses the technique which is interesting in its own ... makes it easier to scan and anticipate then if they did |

| | | Hm.. something just came to mind, this one moment in the first Call of Duty game. You had to defend a bridge for a really long time, intense battles for a day and a night I believe. During the last few hours there was this huge swell in German forces and you were more or less forced to retreat to one side of the bridge, enemy tanks coming in from every direction. Then suddenly the sounds of bullets and explosions around you would lower, and this slightly sad classical music piece started gaining volume at a slow pace, as though you had arrived in the last scenes of a movie.
I don't remember if I held the bridge, but I remember pinking away a few tears. It was the music that made that moment memorable, as you might imagine. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
