Bob Dylan-Like a Rolling Stone
Bruce Springsteen-Born to Run
Eagles-Hotel California
The Doors-Light My Fire
The Beach Boys-Good Vibrations

John Lennon-Imagine
The Kingsmen-Louie Louie
The Beatles-Yesterday
The Who-My Generation
Marvin Gaye-What's Going On
Chuck Berry-Johnny B. Goode
Derek & The Dominos-Layla
The Who-Won't Get Fooled Again
Elvis Presley-Jailhouse Rock
Don McLean-American Pie
The Beatles-A Day in The Life
James Brown-I Got You (I Feel Good)
Stevie Wonder-Superstition
The Beatles-I Want to Hold Your Hand
The Rolling Stones-Brown Sugar
Jimi Hendrix-Purple Haze
Something puzzles me about this listing:

They have Bob Dylan but not Leonard Cohen.

I like Bob Dylan. He's good. I have quite a few of his discs

But Cohen is by far the more superior lyricist and composer, and he has some highly memorable songs: Suzanne, Famous Blue Raincoat, Bird on the Wire, Hey, That's no Way to Say Goodbye, etc...

Ok. You might say he's not rock 'n' roll - but neither is Dylan! At least I don't think so!

Anyway, in no particular order:

REM - Losing My Religion (the video just creases me up every time I see it!)
Don McLean - "Vincent"
The Doors - Riders on the Storm
Leonard Cohen - Memories (another one that has me rolling in the aisles!)
The Beatles - Hey Jude
Leonard Cohen - The Window
Meatloaf - Bat out of Hell (Not sure if he counts as R&R?)
Bob Dylan - Lay Lady Lay (Surely not R&R?)
David Bowie - Ziggy Stardust (yeah, ok, I know!)
Leonard Cohen - Love Itself

This thread is certainly worth bumping, but because of GameBanshee changes it's now in the wrong forum. Moving to Other Entertainment.

I'll make a top ten list, but for now:

Long Live Rock 'n' Roll - Rainbow

My top ten are not ranked, because I cannot order them. I only chose songs that are NOT in the top 25, but ones I think should be...

Deep Purple - Highway Star
Little Richard - Long Tall Sally
Thin Lizzy - The Boys Are Back In Town
Bob Dylan - Subterranean Homesick Blues
The Kinks - You Really Got Me
The Who - I Can See For Miles
Jimi Hendrix - Crosstown Traffic
Rolling Stones - Sympathy For The Devil
Steppenwolf - Born To Be Wild
Led Zeppelin - Rock And Roll (nuff said!)

Personally I have little trouble with the term “Rock and Roll”. I know the history, I have heard of the big names. But it is the variety of genres that make my head spin around, so here is my list of more or less Rock and Roll songs. (The songs aren’t in any particular order.)

Song name – Artist/Band

Californication – Red Hot Chili Peppers
Part of the Queue – Oasis
Poison – Alice Cooper
California Dreaming – Beach Boys
Runnaway – Bon Jovi
Talk – Coldplay
Cats in the Cradle & the Silver Spoon Lyrics – Guns N' Roses
Kärleken Väntar – Kent
The Sound of Silence – Simon and Garfunkel
Losing My Religion – REM
Winds of Change – Scorpions
I’m in the Army Now – Status Quo
Who Wants to Live Forever – Queen

I hope I got everything right...

I love the middle-ish part of this song, when it's really... strong. Have you ever seen them play it live?
