| | | X-box worth it? Well there's this game coming out I kinda really wanna play(Fable). And there's a few other games that I'd like to play (morrowind and Thief: deadly shadows) that I'd also like to play since I'm a huge fan of the past theif titles and my computer sucks too much to play morrowind. My question is would it be worth buying a used x-box for around $100 from amazon for these games? I'm also gonna get Bard's Tale and Demon Stone when they come out, but I already have PS2 so I could get those two for that. So is it worth it? |

| | | Well I think it is. I never got a PS2, but I remember the memory cards being crap for the PS1. Theyed mysteriously delete everything on them halfway through the game. With the Xbox you never get that problem. The Xbox has like a 100,000 blocks of memory built into it. I've never lost a game on it, I think it's kind of stored like a computer. Like I said, I don't know if the PS2 has memory card problems. Also if you do decide to get an Xbox I might suggest Halo and Star Wars: Kotor. Both games get a 10/10 on every review and really made a name for the Xbox. ...Also I like Legacy of Kain: Defiance.
edit- If you get Morrowind, make sure you get the expansion one. They made 2 versions for the Xbox, one they made many years ago for the Xbox before the expansions to Morrowind were released, but they also made a second version of the Xbox Morrowind just with some added features from the expansions. I don't think you should pay $50 for Morrowind. I can walk down to my local Walmart and get it for $20 easy.

I've played on a PS1 and PS2 for years and years and years, and the only problem I ever had with memory cards was when my cheap third-party one was caused bugs in Rayman. and that makes my memory cards far more reliable than my computer hard drives so far...

| | Xbox is cool. You can even replace the winchester for a bigger one, so that you can have several games stored on it! (Well, I'm not quite sure if it's legal or not... It's not an advice to anyone, OK? )
Don't know it's advantages compared to PS2, all I can say is that I like it and it works fine.

| | It mostly depends on what kind of games you are after. If you are looking for the more mature, better looking games..then go for XBOX..if you are looking for party games then go for Gamecube..if you want something that is a kiddy game with a little violence (aka Final Fantasy) then go for PS2.
Personally I got XBOX and really haven't gotten or played many games on it at all. I rented the Baldur's Gate games..and I play a couple games that my friend has for xbox..but actually I am waiting on Halo 2, Starcraft: Ghost..just heard about Fable (looks nifty)..and I dunno if it will be on XBOX, but I want Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas when it comes out Probably more games that I wanna play, just can't really think of em at the moment |

| | Well I got an x-box the other day and KOTOR was definately worth it. And when I get them so will Thief eadly Shadows and Fable once it comes out. And I originally got PS2 because there were a few PSX games I still played, I got a good deal with my PSX trade in, and there are a select few games that are on PS2 that I liked like Worms 3D and Prince of Persia. Basically I was just looking to upgrade from a PSX at the time, and it's also my DVD player. But now that all the good games that are coming our for PC and console my comp can't handle(and I'm in no position to buy a new one) console was the way to go. And X-box has Fable, Thief, and KOTOR. Much to my dismay Morrowing:Game of the Year edition(the one with the expansions) doesn't work on my x-box. Oh well I'm happy with KOTOR. I think I'm gonna go try and from Thief right now. |

| | | I'm still confused as to how it doesn't work on your xbox. Exactly what did the guy mean when he said that you needed a special console? I personally didn't get the expansion xbox morrowind. I don't think it was even out when I bought my morrowind, but it came out a month or 2 after I got mine.

| | | No, it's just that some of the newer games don't work so well on older machines (I got a refurbished one). And the Game of the Year edition of Morrowind is one of them, and it hardly works at all on mine, so I returned it and picked up Thief. I loved the first one and this is better. |

| | | I've been thinking about buying an X-Box as well. Because it's now 140 Euros (new) and Fable really looks awesome. If the game won't come out on the PC, I might purchase a X-Box

| | | To me, Xbox is a system that boasts very little. The only real gem *cough* for the system is Halo, and frankly, the game was quite overrated. The other big titles (KotOR for instance), again was overrated, though getting it for Xbox when your comp can't run it is a good plan B, and allows for other games as well.
As for the visuals, well, I've found it's better not to base a purchase on how something looks alone. But then, it's the same for reviews.
I personally picked up a PS2 recently, and have been quite pleased with it, as I can finally play my Final Fantasy games, not to mention indulge in the wonder that is Square (Never will I acknowledge the Enix part in conjunction).
As for the synopsis of the systems, PS2 is hardly the 'kiddie' style system. Nintendo is, and always has been the system that caters to the younger gaming crowd, and their parents. A prime example is, until recently, the omission of things as simple as blood splatter from fighting games. |

| | The thing I found helpful when determing which console to buy is to look at the games that are exclusively on that system, and see which system has the exclusive games that you want to play. I decided to buy an Xbox because I liked the exclusive games such as Halo, Ninja Gaiden, Fable, Project Gotham Racing, etc. Sure, there are awesome exclusive titles on PS2 like the Final Fantasy series, GTA, etc and GameCubes exclusives like Zelda, Mario, Metroid, etc. In the end, I liked the exclusive games on Xbox better because those games really push the Xbox to the limits, and Xbox Live is a good service for online gaming. Also, the modding capabilities of Xbox are staggering; there are tons of things you can do with it, i.e., progressive-scan DVD-playback, upgraded hard drive, media center, running it as a server, emulation, etc. Another thing is that games that come out on multiple systems tend to look the best on the Xbox.
But each console has its own strengths and weaknesses. So what I'm trying to say is that look at what each system has to offer EXCLUSIVELY, and then decide which system has the games you want to play. And nowadays with games that come out for multiple consoles becoming increasingly common, you can get most games for all three systems. But of course, if you got a lot of money to blow, get all three. You can't go wrong with that.
