Sid Meier: Railroads question

Has anybody tried Sid Meier Railroads - and if so - how does it compare to the original Railroad Tycoon.
I feel the follow ups to RR:Tycoon never really compared to the original, and I'd wonder how good this one is before I go out and buy it

I bought it several months back, and I frankly wish I hadn't. While it looks good, far from adding new strategic elements, it actually removes most of those found in the Railroad Tycoon series--such as all the station improvements you could make. And it comes with hardly any scenarios. In other words, it's for kiddies, whatever else the PR may say.

Same here, my nephew has it and for a 12 year, he thinks its good but not great.....out of the mouths of babes, as the saying goes...
He finally gave up playing it for KOTOR that I loaned him.

Hmm - guess, I'll just load up the original RR:T which was a free download from Firaxis. (can't find my disc, but still have my manual ... )
Just saved me 55 bucks
