| | | Mech games Hi. I just wanted to start a thread about mech-based games and I'm wondering if anyone here have played them. Games like the Heavy Gear series and the Mechwarrior series are known examples. As for me, I only played Heavy Gear 2 but for the Mechwarrior series, a friend of mine played it and I've seen it in action before.

| | | I've played every Mechwarrior game developed so far, with my favorites being the original and Mercenaries. It has much more of an RPG feel to it when you're completing contracts for the different factions and developing your pilots and arsenal along the way. The campaigns in the other Mechwarriors were considerably more action oriented, but still fun.
I also really liked the original Battletech RPGs - The Crescent Hawk's Inception and The Crescent Hawk's Revenge - and have always enjoyed the Battletech/Mechwarrior PnP game too. I'd really like to see FASA develop a new set of CRPGs based on the franchise, but I don't see it happening anytime soon. |

| | | Well, seeing as Fasa no longer owns the rights to Battletech, they will not be doing do so. I used to enjoy the Battletech license, up until Wizkids bought it, and made it a dumbed down heroclix game. Before, with Fasa, they has some really talented writers and developers, and made an amazing tabletop game, with some good computer versions. Now, it is all about the action, and not as much about the tactics. A shame, really...

| | | I've played all the Mechwarrior pc games too. I was really cut up when the last one (MechAssault) only came out on Xbox, that was the pits.
I have to say I thought MW 2 was the best one with Mercenaries (the first one, not the M4 version) a close second.
The really need to restart this series with some new games.
All i can really remember from Mercenaries is some guy sounding like Arnold saying "Tell your Maker I said Hi!" every time he killed someone (one of your recruitable LanceMates).
The MechCommander series was pants but playable...once.
HeavyGear was okay, I kinda liked the storyline idea behind it and the way the map border changed based on success or defeat. HeavyGear2 was a cartoon and soon became one in reality. |

| | | Never heard of HeavyGear is it like alot better then mechwarrior? But any way. I got to say that Mechwarrior 3 was the best ever made.. pretty sweet. I thought that mechwarrior 4 killed it.. The weapon choseing and every thing.. just sucked. The graphics wernt too bad.. But wernt the best i have ever seen. But it just seemed different then the previouse mechwarrior games i have played. But i think they should make newer ones.. and move back to the older version of the games.. Just my idea tho... But yeah Mechwarrior 3 was sweet..

For example, I know the FASA website was heavily involved with the announcement and promotion of their upcoming Shadowrun FPS title. |

I recall that Activision published the Heavy Gear series but I can't recall who the developer is.

Other than that Machines is also a quite fun mech RTS.
