Interesting MSIE based Mmorg

I have been playing a new MMORPG using internet explorer, which is great 'cause I don't have cutting edge tech, the name of the game is Profiteer. I signed up for an account and got 7 days to trial it.

The neatest thing is that you get to explore the stars around our sun for out to 150 light years. There are a dozen careers to choose from and you start with a space ship.

You can even buy the shops on planets and earn money from them when other players use them. I haven't done that yet because I haven't earned enough money.

The game has combat too, but its just a quick report of the fight.

I like games like Civilization, Railroad Tycoon, and Simcity so I guess if you like those games you might enjoy this one.

-EDIT-

I've editted out the link to the website, as this is clearly a violation of the forum rules:

Quote:
#4 - Advertisements for your website or another forum should not be posted, except in your signature. The only other exception to this rule is if the link is to a page that answers the original poster's question.
If you want to talk about the site and game, please wait for someone to show inerest, or if you are going to link to it, do so in your signature.

You won't hear back from him, @Aegis. I did a search using Google, and he's posted an identical message, word for word, on many other boards. He never returns for discussion. He's just a commercial spammer. Good reason, if one is needed, to avoid the game he's a running commercial for, and try something else.

Hi Fable

I admit that I have a commercial interest in Profiteer as I have spent 2 years of my life developing it. My intention was to generate discussion about it and to introduce people to it. I apologize to the members of this forum for any offense I caused.

I am new to forums so if you know of an aceptable way of entering a thread that would inform people of an excellent game from an independant game developer, I would appreciate your thoughts.

From your signature your sound like a decent person and I look forward to hearing from you.

Begining a discussion is fine, it's when you begin linking to other sites that we begin to see problems. Because you only had posted once, and it was very clearly an advertisement, of which we try to keep to a minimum, I deleted the link. If someone is interested in the game after seeing the post, then by all means, you may share the URL, but not until that point. The other option is to put it in your signature.

@TheSmudge, the logical thing to do is to write to a site owner, and ask him or her if it possible to advertise your game on their site; and if so, how you should set about doing it. That's both fair and honest. Buck doesn't allow unsolicited advertising, and I frankly don't know many game sites that do.

If Buck doesn't approve, don't post. If he does, he'll tell you how. Simple as that.

Thanks for your reply. I will now contact forum hosts and ask permission and advice about starting a thread about the game on their forums.

Merry Christmas

That's not what I suggested. I mentioned getting in touch with the site owner, Buck, who can be reached via the Send Feedback link at the top of the page. The individual forum moderators have nothing to do with the site owner's rules, and I suggest you contact him, since what he says, goes.

@Fable

Yep I understood what you meant. I am contacting webmasters. What I would rather have is one of the website staff review the game and post that review on their site. I have free press accounts available for that purpose, and am doing that as well. Thanks.

Fair enough. Good luck with your inquiries, and your game.
