Unhappy MotB: Arcane Archer

OK, does anybody have Bug Spray???? It seems to me that everytime I"m in a battel with the enemy I can't shoot a dame. My arrows goes all over the place I have all the requirements. I get two shoots off that goes left then right. I don't mine if I get two shoots off but at lease let me hit my target. This time it is in the cave fighting the snow leopards. I'm a Sorcerer (17)/Arcane Archer (6).

dying is easy, it's living that scares me..... today..

Your base attack is pretty low actually, a base attack of 14 for a 23rd level Arcane Archer isn't gonna be much help in a 23rd level area. It's actually rather uncommon for an Arcane archer to be completely sorcerer. Most of the time, Arcane Archers are Wizard (1), Fighter (10), Arcane Archer (12), or so for a 23rd level character.

I might be wrong, you might post your character sheet though, that could help.

good lord...

ever heard of BAB? it stands for Base Attack Bonus, depending on what class you take you either get +1 attack bonus or you don't, sorcerer gets 1 attack bonus every 2 levels, which is low, rogue(for example) gets about 15 attack bonus throughout the first 20 levels, which is medium, and finally fighters(and probably arcane archers) get +1 attack bonus every level.

if you have 20 levels of sorc and 5 arcane archer levels, I can't imagine you'd hit often. If you are using arcane archer as a main class (by that i mean building your entire character build around it) then you should focus on things that compliment your archery, not your sorcery.

Btw for the above statement, do NOT use arcane archer if you aren't focusing on it.

oh, just so u no: in NWN2 Prestige classes only go to level 10, you can't go higher. so wiz 1/fgt 12/arc 10 is slightly more accurate

I'd take Wizard1Fighter12AA9 leaving 8 free levels

What about Ranger21ArcaneArcher7Wizard1 leaving 1 free

Yeah, taking the Ranger Class would be smart. Seeing as you get an animal companion as a tank (if you choose to) and other archery related feats for free. Furthermore, the Ranger also gets a high BAB bonus, so your arrows should be true most of the time.

Race: Wild Elf or Wood elf

Maybe try levels

Ranger 2 (1: WF: Longbow {Track, Favored Enemy, Rapid Shot})
Sorceror 8 (3: Point Blank Shot, 6: Extend Spell, 9: Practiced Spellcaster?)
AA 9* (12: Blindfight?, 15: Improved Critical Longbow?, 18: Power Critical Longbow?)
EK 9*
Sorceror 9-10

*intersperse for skillpoints

BAB 25 so 6 attacks on rapid shot
(could have BAB 26 and 7 attacks on rapid shot but you lose 9th level spells...maybe epic spell??)

And in NWN2 Mask of the Betrayer, Prestige Classes go into Epic. They use the same rules as NWN1 Hordes of the Underdark.

You could give out advice without being so hostile you know.

kahelag,

If you're wanting to maximize your sourcery and still be able to hit something as an archer, than you need to be an Eldritch Knight. Go with Sorcerer level 10, Eldritch Knight level 10, and Archane Archer level 10. By level 30 you'll be able to cast as a level 19 sorcerer (level 9 spells), have a BAB of 25, and some pretty decent saves.

Siberys,

Not be hostile, but if you're going to make statements about the game at least know what your talking about. Check the user manual, or just try it in the game. In NWN2 and MOTB prestige classes do not go past level 10.

Spoiler about Mask of the Betrayer that WILL help you: blindfight feat may be a bit broken in it's implementation for the XP. It will assist you, even against those that maybe it shouldn't. As such, it might turn several difficult fights itno several easy fights.

Unfortunately, I'm going to have to agree with Ripuanewhole here. Base classes do go into Epic, but that is not true with Prestige Classes. That was why I had to re-tweak my main character when playing the first time around. That was really sad because I wanted to go as a powerful Cleric/Warpriest class with a high BAB and lots of hp.

@GoldDragon

SPOILER How exactly is Blind Fight broken?

Glad to help kahelag,

In NWN2 you are allowed up to 4 classes. This includes any combination of base classes and prestige classes. Each time you level up you are allowed to level up in any class... so long as you meet the criteria be it allignment, race, or neccessary feats/skills (most of which is quite clear in the class descriptions).

By the way, if you'd like one additional attack at level 30 your 4th class could be Herper... the best combination being 4 levels of Harper and 6 levels of Sorcerer. This would give you a BAB of 26 at level 30, gain you a few more saves, and reduce your casting level down to 18.
