You take that penalty on certain skillchecks, like Tumble, Hide and Move Silently. So -6 is worse.
I can't believe they didn't put this in the manual. (They really didn't, apparently.)

True, but it's pretty easy to find on-line via a basic web search, as are the questions on attributes.

Armor check penalty - NWN2Wiki, the Neverwinter Nights 2 wiki - Races, classes, skills, and more

Note that you need to *also* factor in the limits to Dex. modifiers (also shown), to get you net (-#).

Abilities - NWN2Wiki, the Neverwinter Nights 2 wiki - Races, classes, skills, and more

What is NOT show with the attribute modifiers is that *magical* enhancement does NOT STACK. In other words a +5 *Strength* belt AND a +4 *Strength* weapon equals +5 Strength, NOT +9 Strength. On the other hand a weapon *enhancement* of +4 does add to the +5 str. modifier, it does NOT stack to the Strength modifier, rather it provides a full +4 attack and damage in addition to what ever your net Strength modifier adds.
