Question Vault Characters?

I have spent the last few weeks carefully crafting a player in BGII to prepare them for NWN, knowing that I will be able to import them into the game. I have been looking forward for this game like a kid at Christmas after his parents just won the lottery. Then I read this:

You can import your protagonist from any game in the Baldur's Gate franchise. If you don't mind them being 'unofficial' (ie: non-Vault) characters, they will be modified to fit the 3rd Edition rules but will remain essentially intact. If you want the imported character to have 'official' ranking and a space in the Character Vault, however, they will lose all of their experience and items, essentially return to a Level 1 state.

What the heck does this mean? I assumed that my character would easily fit into the NWN scheme, seeing as how they advertised the compatibility in BGII, and I was really looking forward to seeing my Kensai/Mage wield Celestial Fury and Crom Faeyr in all of NWN's full 3D graphic glory. The more I think about, I realize that NWN would have to have all of those weapons and equipment programmed in in order to adequately represent them in the game. It's tough to dual class at level 15, and I only went through it to craft a character for NWN without cheating. I'm thinking about trying to dual class at 18 now, but I'm not sure it will be worth it if my character is going to come into NWN stripped. Can anybody fill me in?

well i read the same exact thing thinking what the hell dpes this mean? what im thinking is, that you dont hafta have him stripped, but then he wont be official, and frankly i dont think that means anything, to my understanding a bg2 charcater will still be able to do everything but theyll make some 3rd edition changes, they say these are minor but i dunno, becuz third addition rules are quite different from 2nd addition, or bg2 edition, drastically different, so i suggest eamailing nwn for an answere and then posting it here for all of us or well just hafta wait and see
