| | @Nippy: Thanks for the warm welcome. Now that you mention it, I do have some questions on rules. I stopped playing PnP AD&D (as it was known) years ago, so all this 3E stuff is new to me So, how closely will NWN follow these rules? I just ran out and bought the Players Handbook, and I see (among other surprises) that Cha affects Turning Undead (I may have to bump mine from 8!) and that only good clerics can turn (so I may want to reconsider that CN!) I am especially curious about that latter point, if anybody knows how NWN is going to go at it. Lastly, what's with this clerics using crossbows? Are all weapons now open to all classes? I'll keep reading, but anybody who wants to drop a line...thanks!

| | @ der Moench Thanks for joining a full Cleric is always useful! As far as we know (which is very little! ) Weapon restrictions stay the same as BG2 or 1. The problem is that Bioware have had to change around the rules a little bit to make the game succesful so certain things are unknown. However your mention of Clerics being able to use X-Bows is new to me where did you find it? (Saying that, at the Gencon video a cleric was able to use a sword )

| | *clears throat* "Alright all you clerics. Now, you take the pointy end of the sword, and you jam it into the chest of your opponent till it hits the back of their rib cage or the hilt of the blade. OH, DON'T GIVE ME THOSE SQUEAMISH LOOKS! WHAT DID YOU THINK IT WAS FOR?!? Geeeesh! Clerics!"
Seriously, I hope clerics' weapon choice do get expanded. Shouldn't a cleric of Tempus, the god of war, get to wield a battle axe or something? How about clerics of Talona wielding poison daggers? Makes sense, doesn't it? Okay, well to me it makes sense! |

| | I agree Rail, whats the point of having a god invloved in war if you can't stab someone?

| | @average joe: you got the same stats as me. What do we do. Dominate the clerics and thieves and steal all their money and run off. hehe Quote: |

| Well any class should be able to wield any weapons they want. I've read thievs that wield heavy crossbows, mages that fight with long swords. Truly any character class should be able to wield any weapon of their coice but should have favored weapons. |

| | I'm way ahead of you Thorin...I've been pocketing gold since my first day here. As far as stats...who knows? They are very subject to change, as the rules will be different.

| | @Nippy, et al: Well, the whole clerics and crossbows thing all depends on how closely NWN follows the new 3rd Edition Rules. I bought the new D&D Players Handbook, because the official NWN site references 3E rules all over the place. In 3E, any class can use any weapon (or armor, for that matter) as long as they expend skill points towards those areas. If I am reading the rules a-right. So, the question is: is NWN strictly according to 3E? Anybody know?

| | I don't believe that they would allow Mages to wear Full Plate, they would get extreme spell casting failures otherwise...

| | @nippy: its truth mages will be able to use heavy armor. but they have to spend 2 or 3 feats i think, those could be used to improve his spellcasting ability so you wont see many heavyarmored mages |

| | I say, let 'em learn the fine art of armoring themselves. Then we get to see them learn the fine art of encumbrance! |

| | Hehehehe, lol. Right Rail.
BTW. I've just found that anyone can use any weapons/armours it just requires more feats to use it. So if I see a wizard using a sword I'll know that he wants to be a fighter!
