SPOILER* Stuck again

OK, I have most of the items to make the Golem control rod, crystal etc. However, I don't know how to do it. I have the book that says "Put them with the powders in an alchmist's desk", so I do that and then Use the desk. It just opens and I can get my stuff back. Normally there's a note or a book that says what spell I need to use on it. I don't understand where this information is except in the walkthrough.

Can anyone tell me what the spell is that is necessary and where they get this info from? Please?

As far as I recall, no spells should be neasecary to create the 3 Golem items.
All that should be needed is the one item and 2 powders, depending on the recipy in the book.

All I did was to place the 3 ingredients in an alchemist’s apparatus, which then transformed it into the correct item.

Thanks for that. I'll give it another go. I was really careful, though, about which powders I put with which object. I can only think that I grabbed the wrong item in my excitement

Oh good god. I was putting fairy dust instead of blue powder in with the items. No wonder. Have now obtained all three items, including the crystal which I can't use. And my biggest battle now is not against golems. *sigh*. Never mind, at least I have moved on!
