SoU; the strange machine

I have found the strange machine in the secret room in the excavated ruins. But i cannot get it to work. I have tried with both belladonnas and slaad tounges - and yes, i have put in the right amount in both urns...but nothing happens. I do not have a clue what to do???

Has the statue in the other room anything to do with it?

Regards

Skylar

I'm not quite sure myself, so would be interested in hearing from others.

I didn't experiement much, because I couldn't get it to work myself.
If nothing else, I'll start another run of SoU again and maybe see if I can decipher it this time.

If you mix and match so many items (the Slaad tongues, etc.), and place the required amounts in the machine (I believe it's the machine you place them in), a power item will be created for you. I can't recall what I put into the machine, but I got a nifty item that cast's spell immunity for about 3 turns.

It's been a while since I was at this spot, but isn't there several statues or something in that room? If there is, they tell you the possible combinations.

I can't remember, I might have overlooked them but it was the Sphinx that put me on the track about the possibility of creating something ... I think - unless I mix it up with something else.

hmmm!

Hmmm....it did not get me much further!
I already read the text on the colums and yes - i do put the right amount in the urns....i even tried putting the whole amount in one urn nad in both.... - it is not possible to put anything in the machine itself.

But still nothing happens.......

Maybe it is a bug in my game...?

(spoiler)
The sphinx can explain the workings of the machine, as well as giving a helpful hint for a little later. Unfortunately, you can't talk to him right away because. . . . .
(spoiler) : He's been turned to stone by those pesky basilisks! So, you have to cure him.
Now, ask how to do that!

I did talk with the Sphinx before entering the machine room. I place the slaad toungues in the defensive (left) urn, dragon blood, belladona, all with no results after activating the machine.

When you click the urn, it gives you the options to place the varying items, once you select one you can only place more of the same so there is no mixing and matching.

So I'm stuck as well.

Strange Machine Recipes

LEFT URN - DEFENSE
1 Fairy Dust - Invisibility while attacking (I can't remember the name - Improved Invisibility?)
6 Slaad Tongues - Protection from Elements
1 Dragon Blood - Stoneskin
6 Belladonna - Haste
3 Rubies - Turn enemies magic back (again I forgot name of spell that does that)
1 Ruby - Bend enemy magic

RIGHT URN - OFFENSE
1 Fairy Dust - Stun
10 Slaad Tongues - Instant Pain of Death (Finger of Death?)
1 Dragon Blood - Blow enemy back
4 Belladonna - Slow
3 Rubies - Burn all enemies (I think this one is Flamestrike)
1 Ruby - Burn enemy (I think this one is Fireball)

You just pick the ingredients you want. Put them in the correct urn. Then click on the strange machine. It will blow up and a Power Stone will be lying there. You can't use more than one ingredient, and you can't do it more than once.

I did Dragon Blood for stoneskin and 10 slaad tongues (to get rid of them, I guess). I haven't used the stone yet. Unfortunately, I had sold my rubies.
