Much of this is based on memory from a while back, so bare with me

Spoilers highlight to read:

The Riddle of Light

You take the gems from the center pool, then you dump one of the color stones in each primary pool (i belive) and then in the secondary color pools you drop the gems that generate (combined) the color of the primary.
for instance if you place orange in the primary, you need a red and yellow in the secondary.

The Riddle of Smoke

As far as I remember, there are 3 gems on the side of the brazier.
You then need to create "smoke" in the same direction as the note you have found says.
I can't remember if it is of decreesing value (down) or increasing value (upwards).

But then you simply place two powders in the brazier to create the color gem you need.
(green = yellow and blue, purple = blue and red, orange = red and yellow).

These puzzles are rather easy if you read the "Old Defences Note" or what it is called, you find it all over the place.
