Recreating my NWN character

Hi All:

I have a problem and I'm hoping someone can help me out here. I'm playing NWN original campaign and have created an Arcane Archer. Following some recommendations of other players, I created him with a Fighter class base, then 1 level of bard for the arcane abilities and then moved into Arcane Archer levels. My problem is, after playing him a while, I've come to realize I made a mistake. My character has always traditionally been a ranger, but to gain the extra feats, I went the fighter route. Now, I want to change him and swap out his fighter classes to ranger classes (and yes, lose some feats, and gain some skill points, but otherwise keep him the same). I'm almost done with Chapter 2 in the game, clearing out Jhareg Castle and about to move into Luskan.

Is there any way I can keep my saved game and just make the above mentioned changes? I really REALLY don't want to start over from level 1 again back at the academy, or even start the game anew from Chapter 2 (or 3) back at level 1. I just want to swap out his fighter levels for ranger, make a few feat and skill changes, but keep eveything else (espeically his gear and place in the story/game) the same.

Many thanks,

-MageBlade

sorry mate, with my knowledge of nwn i dont think it is possible to do what your saying. although some others might know.
i have to ask, why do you want to change to ranger??
i think fighter would work better with the extra feats, but i dont see how ranger could be better with only 5/6 levels.

Character change

It's just a personal preference. I'm a old school roleplayer, and I've had this character around for A-LONG time (late 70's) and he's ALWAYS been a ranger-type. When character kits came out for 2nd edition, I changed him over to an Archer kit (as I am an archer myself), and I wanted to do it again when I started playing NWN's. Like I said, I went the fighter route for the extra feats, but now he just feels "wrong" if you know what I mean. =\

What you want is a save game editor. Leto is a good one that can edit your classes, which is available at nwnvault.

However... Editing classes with this may not (it might, but i dont think it will) result in removing your fighter feats and giving you the ranger feats you've missed. You can do that manually however.

Your char will also probably no longer be a legal char depending on what you do to it. So be warned you might not beable to play him online.
