prestige classes

How do I get to become one? I have tried everything. I have had characters that met the requirements but it never has them open to me. Yes, I have SoU, before anyone asks.

Just tested my version out and it seems I have no problems.
I made a barbarian and after level 7 I could take the Blackguard prestige.

But we need some more information about your situation?
What class are you trying to take as prestige? Wich class are you now and with what levels? What alignment? What are the requiered skills at and what is your base attack skill at (remember, not attack skill with bonus' - but the base). ?

I made a rogue to who was evil and had 8 in hide and move silently. That meets what is need for assassin. Do I have to be past a certain level for it to come up or can it be done at any level past level 1?

The 8 in Hide and Move Silent you have currently are most likely inclusive bonus and not actual rank you have in the skill.
Remember all requierments are excluseive bonus ...

You will have 8 ranks (if placing maximum at each level) in thoese with a rogue at level 5 (4 from level 1, then +1 for each subsequent level).

You mean I have to put enough points in to the skill for it to have 8 ranks with out the bonus. Ok I will go try that and see what happens.

No problem - I'd figure this would be the major "confusing" part of prestige classes. That it is the base that counts and not with bonus'

At least with the other classes, a BAB is required, telling you what level is needed. It took me about 3 levels to fgure out the assassin req's.
