| | | Pale Master. . .Monk? I do not have this game. However, looking at it's previews, I wonder if it is possible in this game to have a Pale Master/Monk? Create the undead graft and then every punch deals a possibility of slaying the target? Or at least that's how I like to imagine it . I just like the visual image of a karate man with a nasty bone arm getting ready to "Judo chop!". |

| | | You have to be a arcane spellcaster, then palemaster and monk. Bioware should explain things like this better in NwN 2 |

| | | IIRC, to qualify for Pale Master, the PC needs to be non-good (so LN or LE for Monks) and able to cast 3rd level arcane spells (so 5th level Wizard or 6th level Sorcerer).
The Monk/Wizard/Pale Master I was playing was Wizard 5th / Monk 5th / Pale Master 17th when I finished HotU. A reasonable class, although he was a little weak in some areas. I would have liked to be able to take him to a higher level, especially as his Undead Summon gets more powerful with levels. And he wasn't that good in melee either. Maybe should have got some more levels in Monk...
Cheers,
TGHO |

TGHO | You don't have to be able to cast 3rd level spells. You only need three levels in arcane spellcaster ( that gives the wizard 2nd lv. spells and the sorcerer 1. lv. spells) |

Pale Master Requirements -
Alignment: Any non-good
Arcane Spellcasting: level 3 or higher
Which means you have to be able to cast 3rd Level arcane spells. Admittedly, I currently don't have NWN (& expansions) installed, so I'm not 100% sure if that is correct or not. But I clearly remember my Pale Master character - and he had to get to 5th lvl Mage before he could become a Pale Master.
Cheers,

| | | Huh, well that is interesting! What patch are you guys using to do that? I was on the base HotU install (which was 1.59, IIRC).
Hmm, that also means that Bioware stuffed up the 3rd Ed rules, as the Wizards site states that to become a Pale Master you have to be able to cast 3rd level arcane spells.
Cheers all,
TGHO

| | | Yes Bio stuffed 3rd ed rules.
Yes Wiz/Pale/Monk is a good combo, but only if you take few monk levels (preferably 1) and 10 pale. But once you meet somebody with spell resistance...

| | | Don't cast spells at them. Hit them with the Arm of Doooooom! That's what it is there for. Or get your summon(s) to chew their heads off. Or get a henchie to kill them. There are dozens of ways of handling that situation.
Cheers,
TGHO

TGHO | I would not think that the summons are your lifesaver. Of course, the Lich, The elder Alhoon and the demi Lich is darn powerful. But they have a bad habbit, i.e using Powerword Kill on a orc or something like that.
(a nice thing is that they can't be turned by a cleric character) |

TGHO | All summons, excluding the demilich etc., are rather mediocre, then if you get the demilich, it will be a far superior caster to you, but with sub-standard AI. And I'm pretty sure they can be turned if you meet a strong enough Cleric.
And of course, you'll never hit with your arm, let alone get a creature/player to fail the save. Also, don't forget that most people solo HotU now, as they want as much exp as possible for themselves (plus, most pvp servers don't allow henchmen).
EDIT: Henchmen

| The Cleric would have to be on lv 42+ since the Demilich is a Undead lv 21+ | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
