Unhappy NWN/SOU: Problems installing games

I’ve searched through several forums now looking for an answer to my problem, but it seems like nobody else has had the same problem, so here it is:

We’ve had NWN for a while and besides for the game shutting down now and then for no reason we’ve had no problems with it (although the shutting down may be a symptom of the current problem). Until now. I recently bought SoU, HouT and KingMaker and today when I tried to install SoU I received two “Severe” error messages. The first one popped up after I inserted the Original Play Disk (when asked to do so of course) and read

“Installation has halted while copying the Play Disk. After setup has closed down, please go to [place where I installed the game] and clean out any remaining files that were not deleted.”

The only option was to click OK. After clicking OK Setup requested the Neverwinter Nights: Shadows of Undrentide CD. After inserting it, the second “Severe” error message appeared:

“Setup has changes files on your system that will cause Neverwinter Nights to no longer work. To return the game to a playable state, please run the CriticalRebuild.exe found on the root of the Neverwinter Nights: Shadows of Undrentide CD.”

So I did as the messages said (though cleaning out remaining files did not seem right), which resulted in having to uninstall NWN and then reinstalling it. Now the same error messages appeared again, after inserting the Original Play Disk. OK. So I uninstalled it again (the bits and pieces that had been installed) and reinstalled it again, only now choosing the minimum version. No error messages appeared. Until I tried to install SoU again. So, I guess the question is: Is my Original Play Disk corrupt? Can I fix this in any other way than to buy a new Original Disk, or won’t that help either?

It could very well be your disks...if you msg me privately I might have a solution for you as it helped me as my friend had a similar problem like yours and my method worked...
