newbie question

How come the attack speed for my character is quite slow at the start of the game??? does it vary or do i not know how to play??

I'm not sure what you mean by attack speed, but ....

in the beginning of the game, when your character is low-level, he will only have 1 attack per "round". Laters as he levels up (depending on class) he will start to get more attacks per round. (visible in the Base Attack table on page 157 in the NwN manual - or rather 157 my version, don't know if there is different version).
