| | | New to NWN I was wondering what is perhaps the easiest class to start out as in order to get the feel of the game? I played BG2 and Throne of Bhaal from start to finish many times so I'm no noobie when it comes to games like this. :P
Thanks for the help.
One last thing. Just like in BG2 you can make a Kensia/Mage and be beyond powerful. Is there any such build in this game and can you solo?
I do have the Diamond Edition if that helps.

| | | BG and NWN are almost nothing alike, from rule set to graphics. The easiest class depends on your play style which for me, would be a bard or perhaps a rogue. The closest to a Kensai/Mage as you'd be able to get in this is a Weapon Master/Wizard, or so it is in my opinion.
Again, in my opinion, the NPCs do not provide much help at all as you can't even control them, just set their AI to perform different tasks. So, most of the time, it is as if you're soloing the game.

| | | Warrior types are always easiest to start out with, but with the changes to "resting" in NwN, means spell casters aren't so tricky, even the limited spells at the beginning. They can however have problems killing the harder creatures in the beginning, but that can be alleviated by taking along a melee henchmen.
However, as a starting class I'd suggest a warrior type.
Then later, if you want - after having gotten a few levels, you can shift to a spell casting leveling plan, for instance 2 or 3 warrior and rest mage/sorcerer etc.
Especially if you have the expansion packs, which increases the level cap. |

| | | I also found the Bard with a couple of levels in rogue to be a nice beginning character. Tommy does well as your henchman to begin with, but sooner or later you will want to use Daelan or Linu, or any of the others, and then you won't have the detect traps and open locks that Tommy is so good at.
I also highly recommend Tony's enhance AI mod, which you can download from the NW vault. It really improves the game, and gives you additional options you can control your henchmen with.
One of the drawbacks of NWN vs Baldur's Gate was the party being reduced to two. But once you figure out the tactics to work around that, it becomes quite challenging and interesting.
There are also hundreds of mods built for the game on NW Vaults, but I would play through the OC and official expansions first, only because the add ons occasionally can mess up the game.

For a new player, I highly suggest you DO NOT do it.
