| | I cheated. I ran straight to the loot, opened it, picked it up, and teleported back to the temple. Easy as pie |

| | | I beat the swords with my rogue. I used a wand that I had found to summon a creature. Then drank a hast potion and then went into the room with the swords. Before my badger chased after this I ran to the other stair case and turned around. For some reason, not all 4 swords wanted to come up that stair case, so I started hitting them with the feyduster shortsword. Occasionally I would stun one (at that point I would heal myself) and keep going. They eventually passed away. And sorry to say, so did my badger.

| | | I hate those swords! My monk(4) rogue (2) finally beat with these tactics:
- Drank potions of Barkskin, Owl's Wisdom and Cat's Grace, which increased my AC by 5 points overall.
- On entering the room I ran down the steps to the right and then behind the steps. If you're lucky only one or two swords will follow you.
- Fight the swords behind the stairs. Even if all four swords follow you, if you stand just behind the back corner of the stairs only one or two will be able to attack you at once.
- Drink lots of healing potions!
It still took me three attempts to get this right, but it should work for many characters because my monk/rogue is a pretty weak character compared to most. The main tactic is running behind the stairs. The extra AC helped a little, but even with 25+ AC they were still hitting me more times than they missed.
This tactic will work even better if you don't mind a little cheeze: simply use the stone of recall when you run round the back of the stairs and then portal back in with your henchman (who died while you were running). I would think this would work well with Linu because she can stand her ground behind you and cast healing spells while you fight. |

| | | i totaly cheesed this fight. tomi set to fire ranged weapons was zero help. & my 7th lv ftr was taking heavy damage, after grabbing the gear, i ported back to the temple.
ran across the street and hired the barbarian, leveled him, and ported back in - focused most of my attacks on the only damaged sword, after taking serious damage, keep porting back, rest & back to the fight, once one sword "dies" it's much easier as the odds swing back into your favour, still i think i must have ported in and out about 5 times...
despite getting the cash for the treasure i think that little encounter cost my ftr more money...

| | | I've enjoyed this thread... I tried three times originally and just got thrashed; so I waited until I had leveled and just happened to find a Wall-of-Flame scroll. (I'm a Bard, so can use any magical items like this.)
Again I had the half-orc henchy and I think all I could summon was a dire boar. I cast the fire-wall immediately and sure enough, the swords got toasted nicely, I believe one died, two were injured and one unharmed. I sang the bard-song and passed out haste potions, then began healing the orc. Piggie didn't make it; I was able to finish off his sword while henchy did the rest.
This was my toughest fight until late in chapter two. Illusk tomb (*shiver*) - but I'll wait a bit to bore everyone with that one... I still haven't had to resort to bailing out via the stone-of-recall or running out of the area... that's just too cheezy for my "mighty" bard.

| | | Doh I seem to have missed that dungeon.
SPOILER!
Is that the place behind the book shelf? I only found a few skeletons and a door I couldn't open or break. |

| | | It's behind the bookcase where you have to say the secret word.
Spoiler
The note in the chest gives the clue of which artifact to put in the chest. I think it's the arrow. Then you can open the door. |

| | Nice to see I was not the only one who found those swords difficult...I play with core rules, and my ranger is an archer lvl 5 + lvl 1 rouge. First time I came in, I had Shaewyn(sp? the bard anyway) with me, and we both got killed in a sec. Reload...brought Daelan (the half-orc) instead, drank all potions I had (barkskin, aid, cat's grace) and ran around all over the place. I got a couple of shots at one of the swords, then I ran down the stairs to the right, a couple of shots again, continued to run...Daelan died when 2 swords were still uninjured, and 1 was badly wounded, so I teleported back to the temple and got him, then continued to run and shoot arrows of piercing until all the swords were gone.

| | My fighter/rogue 4/2 didn't have much problems with them.
Haveing Daelan with me, the team is heavy on meele, still had to teleport to the temple a couple of times to get Daelan and get some healing, but didn't neeed a reload ( Stone of Recall has saved me often ) |

| | | I bought the greater belt of swordmanship (the one that gives slashing resistance) & beat them on my second try.
I had the barbarian henchman. Before I went in I swallowed potion of bull's strenght, potion of speed, barkskin & bless.
I remained behind my henchman, then when the swords targetted on him, I slashed them to pieces from behind. When my henchman died, there was only one sword left and I beat it easily.
I play on maximum difficulty, and was a 7th or 8th level fighter at the time. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
