My only real advice is to begin with a level of rogue, simply for the amount of skill points you'll have to distribute. After that, feat and skill progression is very much up to you.

Well... Do you have SoU?

If you do, my advice is to forget about the Ranger lvls and make a Rogue/Assassin/Shadowdancer.

If you don't, a Rogue lvl X/ Ranger lvl 1 is usually enough. Try to take archer feats(ie. Point Blank Shot) and hide behind a tank henchman. If you're close enough, and your henchman has already engaged the enemy, you'll get really kickass sneak attacks with your bow/crossbow/sling/bb gun.
