Question Need advices pls

I'm European so i don't have the game yet ... anyhow i'm going for Wizard or Sorcerer.
I would like to know by ppl who already played the game:

1) I've been in love with BG I & II, IWD and Torment, should i buy this game ?

2) What are the main differences between Wizard and Sorcerer related to this game (i know the 3rd ed rules) ?

3) Who'd you suggest and why ?

4) Will the henchmen provide good cover for the caster or will it be a pain ?

5) Am i makin a good choice or should i look for another class ?

Tnx in advance to anyone so kind as to reply even to just 1 of my questions

This is definitely not IWD, PS:T or BG2. You can't command a party in singleplayer mode, and the scripts for the henchmen are (currently) woefully inadequate. I'd suggest waiting to spend your money on IWD2, which should be out in August; or at the most, look at the game if you have a friend with it.

Fable is right about the fact that the games are different, but to say: don't buy it....

Why could you not enjoy NWN? So take fable's advice and have take a look at it at a friend's. I think (know ) you will find it an excellent game.

Fable!! well I never!!

Ylossakram I would get the game unless it is some sort of hardship to spend the money - i.e. I would give up drink for awhile but not food ...... never food...

I haven't worked with the henchman much and indeed they might not be able to do what you need but there are always summons.

IF you were to say that there was absolutely NO way you would ever play multiplayer and if you would have to literally sleep in a park for a month to finance the game then I would say don't get it. If you have dial-up internet i believe you can still play multi and multi would be much more like BG2 or IWD, except of course much better because online multiplayer gaming is great. Actually what would be neat is to have a team match - like 6 players, 6 DMs - I think that experience would trounce anything we've thought of as computer RPG gaming and you would miss out if you don't get it.

OK, sorry, got carried away on the "should I buy it" question and ignored the others.

2. and 3. the wizard and sorceror are the same as in 3E rules AFAICT, the wizard gets more skill points but less spells than the sorceror. One point that I think makes the wizard a little more attractive than it might be otherwise is that it is easy to rest in the game - they have a rest system that is sort of like sitting down and taking a short meditation break instead of sleeping for 8 hours. So recharging spells is easy and might bring some luster to the wizard again. In general though it seems like once they made the sorceror class in D&D the mage class kind of became unattractive IMO. Usually after studying the spell list and playing the game for awhile you can boil the useful spells down to a couple per level anyway but the wizard does have the choice.

4. I don't usually use a henchman, but you should be able to get what you need out of one - there is a burly fighter guy that dominates combat in the game, he could tank for you no problem. I think you could play a halfling bard with no weapon and just walk behind that guy and smoke a pipe the whole time and do fine Furthermore, you get your familiar - my fighter/sorceror dual uses a pixie as a familiar because the pixie can pick locks and disarm traps. You could choose from lots of other familiars including a devil dog if you wanted a familiar that could fight, and you can use your familiar unlike BG2 because when it dies you just summon another, there is no penalty AFAICT - also you can change which familiar you summon each level so you can mess around with it as your needs change - it's very nice. Then you've got summons, so between a henchman, a familiar and some summons I think you could do just fine as a pure mage.

Hhhaaaaa! Tnx man, that's just what i wanted to hear (read)!
The familiar stuff looks great and i never played a solo crpg so this game's startin to intrigue me even more
Imo i think this game introduces some new ideas and concepts and the better way to fully enjoy it is to practice and experiment with them ... now, if only i could get my hands on it ...
