Mysteries I would like solved...

I have gathered 2 pieces of evidence pointing to Luskan as the cult HQ, but before I go to Luskan I want to finish all of the quests in and around Port Llast. A couple things I'm curious about. On the road south toward Charwood there's a cave, at the end of the cave there's a well. I tried to swim to the other side but I ran out of breath. I tried many times just to make sure it wasn't a random thing. Is there some quest I have to do, an item I have to get, or do my stats need to be higher? Also, on the road north there are the Port Llast mines that require a key to go further. Is this a secret entrance to Luskan or a quest that I missed? Also, I have not been able to find Yesgar. Is he in Luskan? I haven't quite finished the Charwood quest, is he there? Any help answering these questions would be appreciated.

1. The Well

You need high CON to make it to the other side of the well. A potion of endurance can be found near each well at each side to use it if you cannot pass through.

2. Port Llast Mines

Kendrack will give you the key for the Port Llast mines once you bring back four ears from the escaped prisoners. Yesgar the fifth prisoner will show up after that and occupy the Mines.
