Probably Wizard, cuz they have better metamagic.

Sorcerers have a few more spells per day, though, and spontaneous casting sure has its advantages.

Sorcs. You don't have to order off the menu of what's available at that time of day. You have the entire buffet to choose from.

Cleric. The folks on the Wizards of the Coast board will tell you all about the min/max possibilities you can accomplish with the cleric in 3E. I don’t play PnP that much but the posters on the Wizards board eat, sleep, and breathe D&D and know what they're talking about.

I really don't know that much about NWN, but I've been playing PoR and they use 3E rules, but only have Cleric And Sorceror. The sorceror has some pretty good off and def spells at higher levels, but the Cleric is just a character with the best variety of spells, all of which are very useful, and if set up right is pretty good in melee too. And Clerics have the indespensable Turn Undead ability. So the Cleric in 3E is just utility. I'm not sure if they're gonna have Bards, but I feel the same way about them as I do about Clerics. At least in BG and IWD Bards are so awesome, they can cast spells and then start shooting with a bow or hacking away with almost any weapon available.

Clerics are nice, but divine spells suck (at low level, at the very least). Cure Light Wounds is nice, but Command and Protection from Evil are nowhere near as useful as Charm Person, Sleep or Shield.

Cleric's are the best spell caster because they 1) can wear armor with no spell failure, 2) once they level up, they get all the spells, 3) in the early game cure light wounds is key, and 4) if you think their spells suck just give 'em a halfway decent blunt weapon, a shield, and some armor and send into battle until the spells of their level are sufficient enough for you ie:until they get Flame Strike and Firestorm.

Cool

Best caster? Cleric/Mage, no contest.

Sorceror is close, though.

Multiclassers suck at spellcasting in 3E. You can either be a level 20 Wizard and cast a bunch of level 9 spells, or a level 10/10 Cleric/Wizard and cast some level 5 spells of both types.

I think Sorcerer would be most 'efficient' if you pick your spells carefully. Also because you dont have to rest as much as a normal Wizard.

Also the fact that you dont need high Inteligence as a Sorcerer. You need Charisima....which I think is better cause you can get stuff cheaper

Xyx? are you sure. Because I have always had the impression that Multi-classed characters are usually just a level behind since for every new level the exp required to gain that level doubles.

But in 3ed. rules each multiclassed level counts as a total of 1 class level - and since there is a class level cap of 20 - this means you can only get to for instance lvl. 10/10 if multiclassed in 2 (or any given combination that adds to 20; 18,2 ; 12,8 etc - and the same with 3 multiclass ei.: 5,5,10; 8,8,4 etc.).

Therefore the multiclassed will never get acces to the spells that the single classed can get.

As a multiclass you can be "jack of all trades" - and as single you can become master of your trade.

Also the if you as a lvl. 10 fighter wishs to become a wizard - to gain lvl. 1 as a wizard you need the same exp. as you would need to gain lvl. 11 as a fighter.

Actually, multiclassing is better if you know youre not getting meteor swarm(or cleric level 9 spells) You can cast both types of spells and, even if you don't get as high of level, you get a lot of spells to choose from.
