Little help.

I'm at the end of Chapter 1 in the first NWN. I'm in Helm's Hold fighting Desther. Unfortunately no matter which weapon I use they are "ineffective". I understand from the walkthrough that it takes little damage to make him surrender but I don't seem to be able to damage him at all. I've been using a bastard sword +1 and tried a great sword +1. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hm. This may be slightly spoilerish (???)

If i'm not mistaken, there are cultists of some kind (or were they skeletons?) standing/kneeling/hanging around in there somewhere. They perform some sort of ritual. You have to dispose of them first to make mr.D vulnerable to any kind of attack. This kind of 'fighting complication' is quite common in NWN.

Right as usual. Those pesky little guys never attacked so I let them go and concentrated on the ones that did. Thanks.
