Lack of longswords? (spoiler)

I must not have found the right stuff, though I picked up nearly every item in the game and lugged it around. I never found, or had a smith offer to forge, a better longsword than the Blade of the Gladiator. There was a +3 to be bought, but hey, a +2 with a +1d6 acid damage that looks extremely cool is just better to me. Kinda looks like a lightsaber when you're running. Anybody else find any better longswords?

The weapons you find depends on what class you have. The game will give you weapons that match your abilities. I knocked about aimlessly with a few characters before I found out about this. My bare-handed monk found a great number of kamas and crossbows, and fewer other weapons. You just have to let the game know what weapons you like, and that's by taking Weapon Focus in it. If you don't, it will give you weapons of your class.

Spoiler:

As for the +3 longsword, there is a blacksmith in chapter one in the city core. He is located at the shop. You must first talk to the shop keeper and ask him about premium items. Sword + Diamond = special magical sword. The easiest way to get formulas is to talk to the guy near the forge and ask him to see samples of what can be made, he then gives you the book of Formulas for the Forge. You put the sword and diamond in the forge, go back to the forge guy who is in the same room with you as the forge, he charges $500 to create the item. It then becomes a special item.

If you want to find out what the items are you should look in the toolset. But you might not want to do this if you havn't played it through once.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Tenser Sword just the weapon you get when you cast Tenser's Transformation?

The spell gives a wizard a temporary proficiency with all simple weapons. Description and details of the spell are as follows:

Tenser's Transformation

School: Transmutation
Components: V, S
Range: Personal
Area of Effect: Caster
Duration: 1 Round / Level
Saving Throw: N/A

The caster becomes an engine of destruction, gaining a +1 attack bonus for every 2 caster levels, a +4 natural armor AC bonus, +2d4 Strength, +2d4 Dexterity, +5 to their Fortitude saving throws, and +1d6 additional Hit Points per caster level. In this state, however, the caster suffers a -10 penalty to his primary spellcasting ability score.

Hmm... well I was pretty sure last time I tried casting it on my rogue (using scroll), I got polymorphed into some flaming avatar and when I looked in my inventory, all my eq was gone (like all other polymorphs) except my weapon slot was replaced with the Tenser sword.

A bit off topic, but an interesting thing I found while battling Morag is that she will actually cast Tenser during the battle, losing all her protection spells in the process. I think my Grimgnaw almost killed her once while she was doing this, but she had fire wall around her at the time so he got knocked out just as she was about to die.
