Katana and weapon finesse

I am confused by the wording on the weapon finesse feat; it says its use is automatic for short swords, rapiers, kamas, etc. Does this mean the feat will not be in effect if the character is using something heavier, such as a longsword or katana?

No, they don't work on longswords and katanas. Only those weapons listed in the destription works.

You need light weapons, a longsword is far from light...
