craig, if becoming one of the original apprenti doesn't work with the background you want for your character, you could easily have met one of them and joined the Blades' quest through him. If working towards the goal of rebuilding the Academy also doesn't work for you, your character could be pretending to help in order to obtain the benefits of the guild. That might make for an interesting character conflict -- he can't help but like the "real" Blades, so using them for his own ends causes some guilt.
Don't compromise the integrity of your character. Do what's right for him.
My character feels no guilt. He has no concience. He only accepted apprenticeship to hide from the Magistrate whose job it was to hang him. He is a still Blade for reasons of self-preservation. He needs to have a reliable pool of associates to adventure with and to hide behind until he is powerful enough to stand alone. |
