How to change alignment?

This was a topic related to Paladin and Fighter thread. However, I have some problem to understand why is so hard to shift from Chaotic to Lawful. I mean, it can happen (some specific choices in SoU, for example), but it doesn't very often. Moreover, in the OC it never changes (Lawful to Chaotic) even if you enter in every house (in cities and towns) and, with people witnessing you, you quietly steal all their possessions. Instead, Good and Evil is easy enough. Any idea?

I've done it before in SOU... but i just keep forgetting how i did it..
however, it only happend once or twice so its still not much of an alignment change.
