HoU level 2: Freeing the illithids thralls**spoiler**

When I try to free the thralls inn the slave pens the thralls start attacking me. The walkthrough says I am supposed to speak with Argosus but that i not possible. What can I do?

From walkthrough:

5 - SPARTACUS

If plan to eradicate this group of illithids, make sure you stop by the slave pens and free their thralls. You'll need to kill the Warden and loot his Master Prison Key, then talk to Argosus, the leader of the thrall prisoners. Don't do this unless you've killed everyone upstairs, or the thralls won't last long. You get 5000 xp for letting the prisoners out of their cell and 250 xp for each prisoner that reaches freedom.

Yeah, the same thing happened to me. I think it was because I was hostile from the moment I came in, never spoke to anybody.

Well, actually it wasn't my fault. I didn't use the helmet that was on the duergar slaver that attacks you when you enter the board, because I already had a better helmet that made me immune to mind attacks. I think the game only checks to see if you have the duergar helmet. Anyway, the first mind flayer I saw called me stupid for not wearing the helmet and attacked.

I hate that I wasn't able to free the slaves, but I tried. Paladins don't negotiate with mind flayers anyway

I actually never did this, so can't really help much.

Will try it when I get around to playing it through once more.

There's a module-variable that is controlling the head-slave's actions... for some reason, when i entered the illithid map it was already set to '1', meaning that I've pissed the guy off...

I think it must be a bug, here's how you can get around it:

Enter debug mode:
> DebugMode 1

Update the module-variable:
> dm_setmodulevarint X2_Q2DGladsAttackedInPens 0

Open the door to the pen, pause the game, enter the following command and target the leader (only hostile character):
> dm_setfactiondefender

Now he should turn friendly, and you can free him and the slaves. Remember to kill everyone in the city..
