HotU: Any way to beat some sense into - uh - "Farethia"?

*warning: HotU spoiler ahead*

Anyone having played through HotU will know who "Farethia the Misguided" is... And I figure anyone who didn't then won't notice the little spoiler in the title anyway.

Thing is, I tried several different ways of bringing the "Sleeping Man"-Tale to a happy end, but even long after her oh-so-precious half-frozen-fools *erh* follower have left Cania, she still mumbles some line about "Having to care for them" and takes off instead of facing the sleeping man.

I mean, this'd really be a match made in heaven...
or...
well...
actually deep in hell, but you get my drift.

Is that quest a no-win situation as soon as you wake the sleeping man or -is- there a way that I missed?

This is quite some time ago, but I seem to recall if I woke the Sleeping man via his dreams (and not by cutting him, blowing the horn or what else), then the tale could end happily. However, it is a long time ago, since I played it - so I can't remember the excat details.
