If you mean with the crafting skills, I've not really tried them out myself. But as far as I've read, you can only use them in the HotU expansion.

In the original NwN there are some items that can be made if you can cast spells - these will be made in Alchemyst Apperatus; Wizards Chest or similar - and you will find recipies through out the journey.

Also in the orignal NwN there is some smiths (chapter 1 and chapter 3) that can forge some items for you - he will give you a book of recipies if you ask him. These will requiere a magical weapon/armour and some sort of component (all written in the book he gives you)

I created a sorc after installing the HotU expansion and gave him the Craft Wand feat at 6th after putting a number of points into the Craft Weapon skill. Plenty of bone wands were crafted from skeleton bones and then enchanted with a number of different spells before actually getting to Chap2 of the NwN.

- - One spell that was unusable in this manner was True Strike and it stated that I was flat-out unable to cast it to a wand.

If the sorc is the primary damage dealer when dealing with skeletons they leave a large bone after decomposing.
Almost every animal that this sorc kills drops its pelt (even when killed with that Stonefire Axe - but no dire bears, but that could be from others dealing enough damage to destroy the pelt) which AFAIK can be crafted into either Leather Vests (armor base) or patches or laces (armor minors).
I have yet to find any chests or doors giving any panals usable for crafting but the Minogons (sp?) in the Creator Ruins consistently dropped bars of iron which could be made into small pieces for crafting.
I have also not seen anything in the way of cloth to use.

Apparently the areas/items which create the raw materials only exist in the HotU expansion but the creatures were modified by the expansion so that the NwN campaign contains some items.

When you are in Neverwinter you can go to the smithy and give hime magic items like Sickle +1. These are magic items. In the description they say this magic thing... THen you put the reagent in the forge and you talk to the smithy.
