How do you get the Cheats to work?

I need extra gold to pay for henchmen.

While you're in the game, press the ~ button - on a standard keyboard, it's on the left of the numbers about all the letters, hold SHIFT and press the key. You should then see a yellow > (might be < instead, sorry) at the top left corner of the screen. Type in DebugMode 1, exactly as shown (with caps) and press ENTER. Then press ~ again and type in dm_givegold #, replace # with the amount of gold that you want, and press ENTER. The mouse cursor should change to a targeting cursor, like when you select a spell or ability and you need to target a character to do it. Simply click on your character and the gold will be added. Press ~ and type in DebugMode 0 and press ENTER to get out of Debug mode.

Which part? The DebugMode 1 part, the code, or opening the console?

Try the following:

Instead of pressing the ~/tilde key, look at the bottom of your screen above your quickbar. There's something like a chat window where you can type stuff.

Type the following:

##DebugMode=1 ( to activate Debug Mode )
##dm_givegold xxx ( xxx = amount of money )

Move your cursor to the person you want the money to have. Giving it to anyone but your character is beside the point, so just click on your character once with the cursor; there should be a message like "Success!" in the window where you get all the game notifications.

##DebugMode=0 ( to turn off Debug Mode )

Sorry, don't hold the SHIFT key when pressing the "`" key, when opening the console, just press it normally. Got confused with another game that I was playing. Sorry again.
