I have just completed chapter 1, however I cannot open chapter 2 without loading a saved character, going back to level one an dloosing all my goodies! Is this normal or have have I got an error in my program?

If you are playing a normal single player campaign then what you are experience is highly unusual.
The game should continue after you end a chapter with a cut-scene and continue into the next chapter.

I can't really give any good reasons for what is happening except that you somehow play each module as an individual module instead of as a campaing. How I do not know.

What happened from the Prelude into chapter 1?

Have you patched the game fully? If so, I'd advice you to try starting another game, playing through from the start once more, and if it occurs again - contact the game support. If not - try patching the game.

Thanks. However the screen display now pops up with a whole list of pregenerated characters and states that my own character is invalid - player login refused. Bit miffed if I have to start again!

Well - it seems as you have somehow started the game in another way then usual ... how I can't really say .

But I think you have to start over, if this happenes again I'd suggest you contact the official support seeing as it might be a bug thing.

I have heard of this alot with people who use the cheats. If you use the cheats it probably is normal. If not I would'nt know why it could be doing that. Like he said if you didn't update the game that might be the reason also.
