| | Guilds part 2 Hello, I was reading in "Magic of Fearün(sp)"
and amoung spells and magicily crafted items is a section about mage guilds. The book makes it out to be sort of like....a an exculsive club with a large falicity(sp) and most are really class specific e.g. mages, thieves, fighters. but to join you have to give a one time payment then a few very small payments. So "Blades of the banshee" could give member ships to all their members on someone's persistant server then charge other on-line people for a membership
As with forum guilds that is more like a clan, people you set rules leadership etc. with.
I hope NWN comes out with very little bugs unlike the new pools of radence(sp)(also I'm not the best speller I've noticed) |

| | Charge money?
In real life or in the game?
In the game - don't know, i don't know why we should.
In real life - no way.

| | OK, here's a related series of questions (they've been addressed before, but I don't think we have solutions yet):
Blades membership is free and open to all Gamebanshee members (as it should be). - What's to prevent a mass membership frenzy once Argyle players figure out who and what we are?
- If we continue to accept members, how do we control quality of members? (Kind of elitist, I know, but as of now, we all get along, there are no bad apples, and we believe we can work well together.)
- Should we have a cut off date for Blades membership -- say the official release of NWN? Or, maybe, the day Argyle goes on line? Or, even better, no deadline for Blades membership, but members must have been registered with Gamebanshee by a certain date. (That would make it fair for those GB members who don't rush out to get NWN the day it's available.)
- If we enact a deadline, where do we need to post it so that Gamebanshee members are informed?
Those are just some things to think about. I am not a proponent of an elitist policy, but if we begin to achieve our goals, we will develop a reputation and a power base that will attract a swarm of wannabees; we have to have a plan to deal with them. |

| | Firstly @ Gano, no one including the Core DM's at Argyle, are allowed to profit from NWN. Copyright laws prevent this from happening.
Secondly we have had discussions about limiting the amount of members allowed into BotB. This is due to server specs, ie limit of 64 people per server. And as we also contain a third of Argyle players within BotB from last count anyway.
I think we limited it to 50 members for the moment. However we weren't exactly formed to play within Argyle exclusively. So whilst we may get too big for Argyle, it isn't the only persistant world in development.

| There was a dissagrememt with my proposale to limit it at 50 when I propsed it.
What we did instead was allow people not wanting to play in Argyle to game else were - or if so, to game only in "selected" mods. in the BoTB (were we play mods. together)
Also since the BoTB wont be active from Argyle start - we can't really say how many members will survive to the guild-creation date (ingame)
EDIT: and Tamerlane is correct.
Nobody must charge for anything in regards to playing NwN, it is specified in the EULA.
This means, no cost for downloading modules, selling modules not allowed. Pay to play on servers is not allowed etc.

| | I don't think the limit will be a problem any time soon. Argyle still maintains that they don't need a limit, so why should we?
I wouldn't mind just a little of the elitist approach, though. The Guild is fun the way it is now, and I wouldn't want to see a horde of l33t d00dz (or even worse; hardcore RP-ers (you know, the kind that will talk for six hours about the angst their character feels)) take over a large chunk of the Guild all of a sudden. |

| That is 'leet' talk, gamers decided to create their own in-game 'language' which makes no sense.
That was elite dudes.

| | "Leet" (elite) talk is something some gamers have "invented" to be able to talk faster on the net.
The idea is using numbers to signify letters and combinations of letters.
But it is not something to be used in these forums, except maybe in SYM.
So please people, don't spam this forum up with it Take it to SYM | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
