Angry Grumble.

This will never be as good as the original Neverwinter Nights.

Wink

HA! Reload your crack pipe, buddy.

Seriously though, what won't be as good? The gameplay, the story, the DM element, the graphics? If it's even close to what the developers are trying to make it, it will become the benchmark for multiplayer CRPG's. I don't think the original NWN did that, even though it was a ground-breaker at the time(and funner than hell to play).

I'm just of the opinion that bigger doesn't always equal better. Some games just have a better feel to them when they're primitive. Take the old Nintendo pretty much text-only game Nobunaga's Ambition, then compare it to Shogun: TW, which is pretty much the exact same concept with 3d graphics and story and all the rest. NA was just better. Or for a more mainstream example that more people will be familiar with, Final Fantasy 1 vs. Final Fantasy 8. FF1 was so much better. And that's not just a statement of opinion, either, but a concrete law of the universe. Ask any scientist.

Whoa wait a minute your missing the object of the game. It's not based on a "bigger is better" theory. It's based on the pen-and-paper aspect of AD&D.
Neverwinter is that experience transposed to the internet/computer. You can not compare this game to any other RPG because it's not the standard that you are used to.
Have you ever even played the "real" AD&D? If you have then imagine that game with one extra component.......visual stimuli.

No offense, but how can anybody at this point tell whether it's going to be better or worse than its predecessor? My inclination is to say it will probably be better, since it includes many more features, and the development team is a time-tested one; but I'll wait it out. I suggest as much to anybody who says it will be worse.

I agree with Fable, it is better not to pass judgement on something before laying eyes upon it and having a solid reason or two to back up your case.
