Cleric: Summon pet

I have a cleric 3/fighter 1/wizard 1. I can memoize the summon spell thats supposed to get me a badger pet. It stays greyed out when I cast spells. Resting and passage of time doesn't affect it. I memmed it at level 1, and its stayed unusable so far. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong please? Do I need something special to cast this spell?

to cast a summoning spell, right click on yourself to bring up the radial menu rather than on an enemy etc.

the easiest way to use spells is to place them on the quick menu as then you just click on them to cast (you can do place them on the menu by right clicking on the menu slot to bring up the radial menu and select the spell you want in that slot)

Thanks, Im aware, I can cast all my other spells, just not the summon one. Any ideas why not?
