class combo question

What do you guys think of ranger/rogue/shadowdancer? I was considering trying one, but would I be stretching the character too thin? Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

it seems u're trying out a typical rouge-slasher character. this particular class combo has been used many time before by many, and there seems to be a good "support" for it.

personally, i think that 9 ranger levels is a rather high price to pay. unless u r willing to sacrifice your improved 2 weapon fighting which gives u a second off hand attack. optionally, i suppose the meager spells a ranger gets by then might be worth it.. though personally i feel that a rather great price to pay with the severe lack of skill points from all those non-rogue levels.

i personally prefer to take rouge(x)/fighter(2)/shadowdancer(1) with the race choice: human. having 3 feats at the beginning level means that u can equal the dual weild feat bonus of a level 1 ranger, plus u can take the imprv 2 weapon feat at any time u reach +9 base attack bonus. as i personally find no real reason to take most feats at every 4th char level, having a fighter class means i can specialise in short swords and with improved critical, u have a 20% chance of dealing 4 extra damage.. not much per hit, but your aim is to hit the target many many times per round.

and u can abuse the hide in plain sight (HIPS) ability (isn't that the reason for shadow dancing?) even better with more rogue levels. the +1d6 sneak attack damage every 2 rogue levels mean that at higher levels, u can deal up to 40 dmg per hit attack from stealth.. and with all the 2 weapon fighting feats.. this means 4-5 attacks.. all sneak attacks. HIPS the next round and repeat for so much damage that fighters can only dream of until they become epic level.. and regarding epic slashers.....

well, ranting on about my penny (a penny for your thoughts?
