Cant leave prelude to get to neverwinter

I have the game plus 2 expansions, shadows of undrentide and hordes of the underdark

I began playing the main game in the prelude. When i get to the part where you discover the creatures you were supposed to save are gone, after you level up whenever I try to leave to neverwinter it "this module was created for an updated version of NWN, please update, windows users can update from the main menu" except...there is no update button, what do i do? i thought i already upgraded to version 1.67, and this is annoying

If you start Neverwinter Nights you get a first menu with six or seven buttons. The first button, labeled "Play" starts the game, the last but one, labeled "Update" starts NwnUpdate. Also, you can search for your Neverwinter Nights Installation Directory, f.e. C:\program files\neverwinternights, and start the program file called nwnupdate.exe.

In NwnUpdate hit the "Update" button to update your game. But you need to have an internet connection to make this work.

If you don't have an internet connection go to http://www.bioware.com and download the latest update pack (>= 60MB iirc).

Try reinstalling then trying that patch - it may have compatibility issues with the patch you already have or something. This is a long shot but its worth trying. (You can still keep your saves while reinstalling - just copy the saves folder to my documents, reinstall, then copy it back).

BioWare's site is pretty confusing. You need to download the Critical upgrade patch.
